True Sweetheart Films is helmed by Mariel Sharp, a producer, writer and director based in Montréal, QC. Mariel has produced critically acclaimed short and feature genre films which have played at numerous international film festivals, including Fantasia International Film Festival, NewFest LGBTQ Film Festival, Frameline: San Francisco LGBTQ Festival, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Blood in the Snow Film Festival, Final Girls Berlin, Film Quest, Soho Horror, Salem Horror, and many more.

Mariel's completed projects include the cabin-in-the-woods psychological horror feature, Bleed With Me (2020) as well as festival hit short films Don't Text Back (2020) Monsterdykë (2021).

Mariel's work has been supported by Telefilm, SODEC and CALQ, as well as the Gender Equity in Media Society and the BANFF Diversity of Voices initiative.

As a producer, Mariel believes in empowering diverse voices and the unique potential of genre cinema as a vehicle for social change.
